A MESSAGE TO THE COMMUNITY
ASSURING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF HEALTHCARE
Healthcare is at a critical moment in time. Small hospitals in particular are facing serious obstacles…
...national health reform uncertainty, reimbursement pressures, rapid advances in technology, and regional and market consolidation, to name a few. Our decision to join the Stony Brook Medicine system was probably the most important decision made by the Hospital in its history, and assures our East End community that we will always have the highest level of healthcare available locally.
In 2017, our first priority was to provide exceptional care and service to our patients, including cultural competency training for staff. We have advanced our objective to convert to a fully automated Medical Record. Another priority was in delivery of cardiovascular services, fulfilled by the opening the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the newest component of the Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart & Stroke Center, and expansion of the Stony Brook Cardiology Practice here. Plans for a satellite Emergency Care facility in East Hampton are underway. And, we are very pleased to report that our Phillips Family Cancer Center is under construction in Southampton. Not the least of these accomplishments was the transition for all Hospital departments as we finalized our new relationship. Our extraordinary staff deserves acknowledgment for their professionalism, dedication to our patients, and the successful coordination with their Stony Brook Medicine counterparts in achieving this milestone.
We are fortunate to have access to the many healthcare resources available at Stony Brook Medicine. You have our pledge that Stony Brook Southampton Hospital will continue to provide the warmth and accessibility of your community hospital, and to focus resources on clinical outcomes, patient safety, service excellence, and professional development of our staff in the future.
