Books for Babies

A program that began in 2013, Books for Babies has given more than 2,500 babies a head start on learning to talk and read, and their families an opportunity to spend important one-on-one time with their baby.

This successful project is truly a community project, with funding provided by the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation, book donations from Louise and Leonard Riggio and Penguin Random House, and the ability to purchase books from Southampton Books at cost.  Volunteers from the Southampton Teachers Association add a bookmark to each book bag as they fill the bags with books, and the Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE) introduces families to a wonderful learning experience with a free pass.
